What is a tubular tyre?

A tubular tyre has the inner tube sewn directly into the tyre casing and is glued or taped onto a tubular-compatible rim.

This system can offer better comfort, lower rolling resistance, and improved safety in the event of a puncture.

Because tubular rims are designed differently, control can be easier to maintain after a puncture.

The main drawback is installation: tubular tyres must be bonded using specific glue or tape suitable for aluminium or carbon rims.

Once the technique is mastered, installation becomes straightforward but still requires care.

The inner tube cannot be replaced separately, although small punctures may be sealed using liquid sealant.
